Organization: Lake Merritt Institute (LMI)
Location: Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA
Hours: 15–20 hours/week (Mondays, Saturdays, and occasional events)
Position Summary
The Lake Merritt Institute seeks a motivated individual to support lake cleanups and stewardship activities. This part-time role involves coordinating volunteers, maintaining cleanup supplies, and promoting LMI’s mission to protect Lake Merritt.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and supervise cleanup events; provide safety briefings to volunteers.
- Cleanups include collecting litter and trash, fishing bulky items from the lake, and safely disposing of waste.
- Track attendance and cleanup data (e.g., trash collected).
- Maintain cleanup equipment and assist with trash removal.
- Engage with volunteers and assist during community events or school programs.
Qualifications
-Reliable and eager to work outdoors doing physical tasks.
-Comfortable handling trash and assisting with waste management tasks.
-Valid driver’s license to drive LMI’s truck.
-Availability on Saturdays, Mondays, and occasional events.
-Strong communication skills.
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on work outdoors.
Compensation: $21/hour
15–20 hours/week (Mondays, Saturdays, and occasional events)
