This position serves as the Local Medical Director for the Assistance services being administered via US (+ Canada) locations. This individual might be required to support the Heads of departments in managing internal and/ or external medical professionals to provide the appropriate recommendations to ensure the optimum safety and care for our patients. The individual oversees correct medical management of the geographies’ medical cases and serves as e escalation point on critical/ escalated cases and acts as the local clinical lead in crises exercises and actual crisis events.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the effective medical case management of international medical assistance with the following tasks:
- · Through direct supervision, provides support to employees under a hybrid working model in multiple geographic locations
- · Responsible for the onboarding and training of new physicians and ongoing coaching and performance management of existing staff
- · Collaborating with local senior leadership team to implement local strategic projects
- · Implement a quality management system to ensure physicians are effectively handing medical assistance cases in accordinace with internal procedures and global medical standards
- · Oversight of physician roster and scheduling, ensuring adequate 24/7 coverage across all responsible geographic locations
- · Providing guidance on clinical governance and ensuring continuous improvements in medical operational service delivery
- · Collaborate with Medical Managers and Ops Managers to ensure optimum communication on all aspects of case handling and service delivery
- · Facilitating escalations, as necessary, with the Chief Medical Officer and/ or IMS team, and ensuring resolution to any escalated medical matters
- · Ensure IMN strategy is executed and requirements are met to provide a strengthened and reliable network to AXA Parners
- · Serve as one of the medical escalation points for RED FLAG and other complex cases cases
- · Participate or identify delegate to participate in daily transport review meetings
- · Support commercial on new client opportunities and/or quarterly and semi-annual business reviews as necessary
Effective communication and interaction with colleagues ;
· Working as part of a multi skilled team amongst both medical and non-medical colleagues.
· Liaising with Medical Directors and Officers of other AXA offices to provide effective case management.
· Attendance at internal operational and medical meetings as required.
· Provision of medical case advice to colleagues both in person and over the telephone.
· Display a cooperative and enabling attitude to colleagues.
· Participate in training of colleagues.

Your Profile
- An experienced, self-motivated professional person with a high level of customer focus.
- At least 15 years clinical experience.
- Evidence of current professional registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Minimum 5 years in Critical Setting – ITU, A+E, Theatres with appropriate specialty in that area.
- Minimum 3 years experience in worldwide medical assistance.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- I.T. skills, including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- A commitment to the development of the company through setting high standards.
- A willingness to undertake new challenges, and work across functions under own initiative.
- To act as a change agent and be an influencer to achieve business targets.
