Range Master Job Description
The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe and positive shooting environment for the customers and other employees while creating a fun, exciting, and memorable experience for every customer of The Gun Store (TGS). Our goal is to maintain a high customer satisfaction rate, while ensuring the safety of every customer and employee. The Range Master reports to the Range Assistant Manager.
Essential responsibilities of the Range Master include:
· Ensure safe firearm handling, to include multiple visual and physical safety checks of the firearms in the range and range lobby
· Supervise and instruct each guest/shooter while on the range.
· Ensure the maintenance of the range:
· Brass and link separation and collection
· Trash collection and disposal
· Vacuuming and mopping of the bays
· Cleaning debris from the rubber backstop and making minor range repairs as necessary
· Wiping down the shooting booths and restocking targets
· Loading and maintain magazines for the rental firearms
· Cashier responsibilities when a dedicated cashier is unavailable, as well as maintaining lobby cleanliness
· Answering customer questions (in-person or on the phone) while providing excellent customer service
The physical requirements for this position include the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time throughout the day. It is also required to able to continuously work in a fast-paced environment for the duration of the assigned shift.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 21 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent
· Be able to pass a drug test and background check
· Basic to advanced knowledge of firearms
· Excellent customer service skills
· The ability to read and write fluent English
Any additional certifications that would enhance the knowledge of this position including, but not limited to: NRA Instructor, Armorer's training and EMT training. All Range Masters are required to complete the Range Master Safety Training with the Range Assistant Manager.
This position is primarily located within a large indoor range. Occasionally, Range Masters are asked to work outdoor during summer weather.
