About Strategic Housing Finance Corporation of Travis County (SHFC) Strategic Housing Finance Corporation of Travis County (SHFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing affordable housing by providing critical financing tools to multifamily rental developers. The Position
SHFC is seeking a Development Analyst (at either Analyst II or Analyst III level) to support the organization's Real Estate team. Reporting to the Director of Real Estate, these roles will be integral in initial project feasibility analysis, financial underwriting, developer communication, deal negotiation, and project management activities. The Development Analyst will work collaboratively with a dynamic team to ensure successful project execution from inception through closing.
Candidate Profile
Successful candidates will likely have a bachelor's degree. Development Analyst II will have at least 2 years of relevant experience in affordable housing, multi-family development or real estate finance. Development Analyst III will have at least 5 years of relevant experience. A master's degree in a related field is preferred. Experience may substitute for education.
Compelling candidates will have the following skills:
- Housing Finance Acumen: You have a solid understanding of underwriting and financial modeling, with experience in development feasibility and due diligence. Familiarity with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program or other affordable housing finance preferred.

Essential Job Functions
- Data Collection: Gather and analyze data to support partner screening, project feasibility and financial assessments.
- Developer Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with developers and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
- Financial Underwriting: Conduct rigorous financial analysis and modeling to assess and guide project viability.
- Deal Negotiation: Assist in negotiating terms and closing deals to maximize project potential.
- Construction Monitoring: Oversee construction progress, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Project Management: Coordinate project activities, ensuring all aspects of the project are completed on schedule and within budget.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary for this position is expected to be from $79,000 - $97,000 for a Development Analyst II and from $91,000 to $112,000 for Development Analyst III depending on experience and qualifications. SHFC offers an employee benefits package that includes paid time off, life insurance, a matched 401K program, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. A hybrid in-person and telecommuting schedule is also available.
