What you'll do :- Maintains an efficient maintenance staff through hiring, training and coaching to promote the highest standards of safety, in the most cost-effective manner.
- Monitors maintenance and upkeep data to ensure low operating costs.
- Identifies and investigates new methods and components to improve the rolling stock performance and reduce life cycle costs. Assist in the disposal of equipment under the direction of the Sr. Manager as required
- Ensures the company adheres to environmental and safety standards required by legislation and corporate policy.
- Participates in industry trade associations to promote industry safety and public awareness.
- Ensures application of fair and consistent company policies.
- Responsible for all maintenance record keeping for maintenance requirements
- Maintains a high level of open communication regarding department needs and expectations with colleagues on the management team.
- Works co-operatively with other management team members to ensure efficient execution of Corporate Strategy.
- Works with the team to develop and adhere to departmental budget (enter budget amount) once approved.
- Maintains positive relationships with all departments and provides recruiting and retention support across the organization.
- Manages administrative staff of direct reports; provide feedback through ongoing conversations
- Ensure appropriate staff process PO's
- Tracking and updates to share point for companywide transparency to maintenance records and registration as well as environment tracking for each DC's use for refrigerant, scrap tires, oil and scrap metals
- Coordinate with Transport Team across Canada, attend semi-annual meetings
- Manage Fleet of Trailers/reefers along with power units
- Plan and maintain PM services and Annual Inspections on trailers, reefer and tractors all tracking of maintenance/repairs will be done in a maintenance software system (Cetaris)
- Manage GPS tracking system repairs and VOR
- Manage tire scrap program
- Maintain relationships with 3rd party accounts with vendors as well as monitor all SRT time and part's mark-ups as agreed along with national accounts
- Travel to other locations as required
- Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging
What you'll need: - Must have good knowledge of trucks/trailers/reefers, Licensed truck or trailer certification would be an asset
- 5 years Maintenance experience
- Prior experience leading a team
- Must have strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently, and be accountable for achieving department goals
- Strong computers skills, experience with Cetaris would be an asset
