Part-Time Tasting Room Host (Carmel Valley Village)
This role is perfect for a “people person” with a flexible schedule who is interested in working a few shifts per month, as needed (1-6 per month, as an estimate). As a host, you’ll create a warm, friendly and approachable wine experience and make sure folks have a great time while they’re here (and sell a lot of wine while you’re at it). This position reports to our amazing Tasting Room Manager.
Parsonage is a small-production, family winery in Carmel Valley. We make big, bold red wines.
More about the role:
- Pour wine samples, talk guests through the tasting experience and our story, make sales and sign people up for our Wine Club, using our POS system.
- Work as part of a team on most days. Open and close the Tasting Room solo on some shifts.
- Wash wine glasses, take out the trash, check on the restroom and keep the space tidy.
- Occasionally package wine for shipments, being sure to comply with shipping laws and our permits.
- Work parties -- occasionally and depending on your availability.
- Help with other projects as they pop up.
More about you:
- You have excellent people, sales and verbal communication skills. You enjoy making a sale without high-pressure tactics.
- Your demeanor, both in person and on the phone, is professional but warm, friendly and approachable.
- You remain calm under pressure and can handle a rush of guests.
- You’re comfortable on an iPad and you’re good with numbers (discounts, totals, etc.)
- You are at least 21 years old.
- You have a flexible schedule and are interested in working a few shifts per month.
- You can lift and move 50 pounds (e.g. a case of wine or patio furniture) and stand for extended periods of time.
