As we expand, we are seeking experienced Family Law Paralegals to join our remote team and support our mission of delivering unparalleled legal services to Western Washington residents.
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team remotely. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Washington State family law and court procedures, with the ability to handle all aspects of family law case management. This role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with our attorneys.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, for attorney review.
- Conduct legal research and compile case-related information.
- Organize, maintain, and manage case files, documentation, and evidence.
- Draft pleadings for pre-trial filings such as ER 904 Statements and Witness and Exhibit Lists.
- Assist attorneys in drafting and responding to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and admission requests.
- Collect and organize documents for discovery responses and ensure confidentiality by redacting sensitive information.
- Prepare and file legal forms and documents in compliance with Washington State court rules.
- Coordinate with courts, experts, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals.
- Participate in client meetings to gather information, provide updates, and guide them through legal processes.
- Prepare for and summarize depositions.
- Draft legal correspondence and reports, maintaining the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of two years of recent experience as a family law paralegal or equivalent experience performing paralegal-level work in a family law office.
- Demonstrated experience drafting family law pleadings from the start of a case through to its resolution (excluding trial briefs).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in time billing software, such as Clio, with experience meeting billable hour requirements.
- Strong understanding of Washington State legal procedures and laws in family law.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and case management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Paralegal certification from recognized organizations like NALA or NFPA is a plus.
- Work Style:
- A proactive, self-starting professional who thrives in a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision and managing competing priorities effectively.
Additional Opportunities
We are currently hiring 1099 Contractual Paralegals. However, after a three-month probationary period (or sooner, depending on performance and qualifications), we may consider offering a W2 employee position.
Applicants who meet some but not all qualifications may be considered for an Associate Paralegal position with a lower starting compensation, providing an opportunity for growth.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay Rate: $40–$70 per billable hour, based on experience and qualifications.
