Overview
Responsibilities typically include developing resolutions to highly complex compensation problems that require critical thinking and ingenuity. Uses judgement within broadly defined policies and practices. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment and is recognized as the SME on compensation. This position contributes to the development and administration of Company policies and procedures for compensation plans to ensure equity for all employees, compliance with federal and state legal requirements and Company objectives and profitability. This role directly reports to the Global Total Rewards Lead and routinely interacts internally with HR business partners, executive management and externally with third-party vendors.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the compensation subject matter expert; provide justification for compensation decisions using data combined with a deep understanding and knowledge of compensation industry standards.
- Provide training to managers on compensation philosophy, theory, processes, structures and compensation administration, using well developed presentation skills and compensation expertise to facilitate discussions and adapt training/messaging to target audience.
- Consult with business leaders in areas such as job classification, incentive compensation and salary administration programs. Provide guidance and direction on complex or unusual situations and policy interpretations.
- Research and create recommendations on external and internal employment offers, job leveling, and internal equity adjustments, using market data and internal compensation information.
- Provide business leaders with compensation support offering creative solutions to compensation-related challenges, which may include mergers and acquisitions.
- Serve as a consultant to the organization from an education, market benchmarking, reporting and analytical perspective.
- Partners with talent acquisition and HR partners to ensure accurate job documentation, salary market competitiveness and internal equity for the company.
- Partner in developing and administering annual compensation programs including short-term incentive plans.
- Ensure compliance with all finance, tax, and legal requirements.
- Provide support for executive compensation and long-term incentive plan administration.
- Contribute to the overall improvement of compensation services, solutions and development of new tools and approaches. Develop robust compensation tools that can be leveraged across the system, such as cost models, market analysis tools, presentations and training.
Qualifications
- 15-20 years since first degree and 15+ years of relevant experience
- 15+ years in a HR Total Rewards role
- BS in Business (HR Management) or equivalent certification/experience
- Knowledge of CB&I systems (PeopleSoft, Taleo, ICIMS, JDE, Market Pay etc.) and HR Processes
- Experience in the EPC industry desired
Skills and Behaviors
- Strong knowledge of market analysis and pay design methodologies, variable compensation and equity plans.
- Strong knowledge of compliance laws including FLSA and other employment related regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of CB&I products and markets
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
- Excellent project management skills: Mentally agile and ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines
- Experience supporting diverse cross-functional stakeholders.
