Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS) was founded in 1975, and its mission is to empower youth in our community to find their way through social-emotional support and by building safe, accepting communities. To achieve this, ACS operates four program serving 6-25 year olds in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties: the On-Campus Counseling Program (OCCP), providing free counseling on-campus at partner elementary, middle and secondary schools in the Bay Area; the Outlet Program providing clinical and social support, education, leadership development, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ youth, the Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program (ASAT), providing services and assessment, outpatient treatment, aftercare, and education, and the Community Counseling Program (CCP), providing affordable individual and family counseling during afternoon and evening hours.
OVERVIEW:
The Outlet Outreach Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining outreach materials and initiatives, community connection and outreach, providing training and workshops, and supporting our social programming and partnerships. ACS is seeking an engaging and effective Outlet Outreach Coordinator to support the Outlet program, which services LGBTQIA+youth ages 5-25 in Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties. The ideal candidate would be responsible for executing community outreach strategies in collaboration with the Outlet Social Program Lead and Outlet Director. In the community, they would provide outreach, awareness, education and training to a variety of audiences including community partners, K-12 education, parents/caregivers, higher education and the general public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Develop and maintain outreach materials and intiatives for Outlet
2. Support Outlet Social Lead in youth programming, including but not limited to:
a. Peer support groups in various locations in person or virtually
b. Be a part of the team in envisioning and implementing new programming based on the evolving needs of the
youth community
c. Manage data entry, filing and tracking of youth intakes, attendance and evaluations; submit program reports
as necessary
d. Lead and coordinate social events for youth with community partners
e. Respond to referral requests and give consultation support to community members as needed
3. Take the lead on coordinating and performing outreach
a. Build and maintain relationships with schools, GSA club advisors, and student leaders
b. Build and maintain collaborations with local organizations and community members
c. Strategically utilize social media to outreach and engage youth
d. Seek out and facilitate community outreach events
4. Oversee relationships with community partners and MOUs, RFPs relevent to social programming
a. Maintain non-clinical services with community partnerships
b. Maintain data collection, management, and information for social programs
5. Contribute to Outlet volunteer program:
a. Recruit, screen, train, support and celebrate all program volunteers in conjunction with Outlet Program
Director, other staff and all ACS policies
6. Assist with scheduling, marketing and facilitation of trainings & workshops, in collaboration with the Outlet team and
community partners
7. Assist Outlet/ACS with fundraising efforts as needed (including representing Outlet at donor events and Outlet's
annual fundraiser, Out to Eat)
8. Attend Outlet staff meetings and trainings
9. Perform other program duties as necessary
10. Fulfillment of TB test, finergprinting and state clearance, any other mandatory state/federal requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 2+ years of experience coordinating community-based or nonprofit programming
* Strong passion, knowledge and skill for working with the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically LGBTQIA+ youth
* Competency in working with intersectional identities within the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically trans/gender
nonconforming & BIPOC individuals
* Excellent written and verbal communicatin skills
* Ability to work as a team and independently in self-guided intiatives
* Commitment to Outlet & ACS missions
* Valid driver's license and insurance and ability to drive within service area
* Experience with developing and managing schedules
* Articulate and effective public speaker
* Advanced computer skills/proficiencies in: email, the internet, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
Google Suite
* Ability to create and maintain positive, productive working relationships
* Ability to work independently and as a member of the team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, track details and
the big picture, work productively under pressure, and handle/maintain confidentail records and issues appropriately
* A Criminal background check is required for hire
Highly Preferred:
* Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish speaker (highly desired & compensated accordingly)
* Candidates skilled in Google Suite apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides), social media mangement and Canva preferred
