We are seeking a reliable and skilled Water Distribution Operator / Backflow Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA The ideal candidate will have experience with water utilities (underground and building systems) and backflow prevention systems.
Ideal candidate would possess a current State Water Operator license, and a Backflow Assembly Tester certification as required to perform testing, repairs, installations and water distribution system work. Responsibilities:
Perform backflow prevention device inspections, testing, and installations.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain backflow prevention systems in compliance with local regulations.
Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with industry safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and service history.
Communicate effectively with clients, providing excellent customer service.
Stay current on local codes, regulations, and best practices.
Document water discharge information, flow rates, chemical consumption, timelines of work performed and resultant water parameter values.
Qualifications:
Documented US citizen.
Valid Backflow Prevention Certification (required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in backflow testing and repair (preferred).
Distribution Operator Certification (encouraged).
Mandatory minimum of 4 years documented construction experience (water utilities, pipeline laborer, or general construction laborer) to qualify for below.
Must be able to qualify for the State of California “Skilled and Trained Workforce requirements” or be willing to enter into the AGC apprenticeship program as a Laborer.
Must be able to pass U.S. Government background checks for property access.
Drug testing required for most contract work we perform.
Must be able to read and follow maps, drawings and written instructions.
Critical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong English skills.
Legible written communication is mandatory.
Strong customer service skills.
Good credit score.
Must have a clean driving record, valid driver’s license and OWNED reliable transportation.
