Tesla is seeking to hire a Commissioning Manager to join its' Gigafactory Texas (GFTX) Infrastructure team in Austin, TX. This individual will lead a team of commissioning engineers, project managers, system owners, and subject matter experts at the interacting with other discipline leads of Design, Construction, Quality Assurance, and Facilities for the successful commissioning of various projects at the Factory.
Responsibilities - Commissioning Planning and Execution: Candidate will be responsible for managing the commissioning team at GFTX while leading the development of commissioning execution plan that outlines the scope, schedule, and budget for the commissioning programs. Candidate will ensure that the commissioning execution plan is aligned with the projects need dates
- Resource Management: Candidates will be responsible for managing the commissioning resources required to complete the project, including discipline specific personnel, equipment, and materials. You will coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure that they meet your commissioning turnover date requirements and deliverables
- Risk Management: Candidates will be responsible for identifying and elevating to other stakeholders and management, potential project risks and developing risk management strategies to mitigate those risks. This includes analyzing commissioning risks & delays, assessing the probability and impact of each of these risks, and developing contingency plans to minimize the impact of potential risks
- Communication: Candidates will be responsible for maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders, including commissioning manager, commissioning team members, construction and 3rd party contractors, and vendors. This includes communicating through project updates, progress commissioning reports, and any changes in schedule, scope or need dates
- Team Management: Candidates will be responsible for managing project teams and ensuring that all team members are aligned with the project goals and objectives. This includes assigning tasks, providing direction, and managing performance
- Budget Management: Candidates will be responsible for managing overall commissioning budgets. This includes developing budget plans, monitoring project expenses, and identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Quality Assurance: Candidates will be responsible for ensuring that project deliverables meet the required quality standards by working hand in hand with Tesla QA team
Requirements - Bachelor's and/or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other comparable technical degree
- 15+ years of engineering experience in commissioning mechanical building systems
- 5+ years leading internal teams and/or external teams
- Previous start-up and commissioning experience for manufacturing and industrial sites
- Ability to develop detail commissioning execution plans
