We are Marica restaurant located in Oakland, CA (Rockridge District).
We are hiring Food Expeditor / Food Runner to work dinner shifts 4:30pm-9:00pm, 3-4 nights a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)
This position is responsible for coordinating the timing of food orders, so they are delivered to the dining room or other service areas on time. They will also communicate with the head chef and line cooks to ensure that orders are being prepared correctly.
Food Expo / Food Runners will:
* Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation of food orders.
* Manage incoming food orders from Square Point of Sale, delivery partners (Doordash, Ubereats).
* Inspect dishes for accuracy, quality, and presentation before they are served.
* Communicate effectively with servers to manage order flow and prioritize tasks.
* Monitor ticket times and expedite orders during peak service hours.
* Address any discrepancies or issues with orders and work proactively to resolve them.
* Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
* Assist with plating and garnishing dishes as needed.
* Provide support to kitchen and serving staff as required to maintain smooth operations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
* Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
* Be able to use computers, tablets, point-of-sale systems, and delivery platforms.
* Previous experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, preferably as a food expeditor or similar role.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask effectively.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Certification in food handling and safety is a plus.
