Overview
To effectively, efficiently and professionally manage the Retalix system by accurately receiving vendor delivered merchandise in the store’s receiving area. The Grocery Receiver will direct vendors in placing their merchandise for storage in the store’s back room or other appropriate designated area while maintaining great customer service.
Pay for this position starts at $17.49 - $26.39 / hour.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Complete training in the grocery or receiving operation.
- Ability to prioritize work load and have sense of urgency.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work a scheduled based on the business needs of the store location.
- Authorized to work within the U.S.
Responsibilities

- Greet, assist and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business-like manner.
- Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associated to build a strong grocery team.
- Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
- Ensure that all grocery deliveries are properly received and stored safely.
- Oversee direct store deliveries for invoice accuracy and product authorization.
- Verify the accuracy of merchandise declared on the vendor’s invoices by physically counting/inspecting the units; check for quantity, cost, or damaged products.
- Report price discrepancies or problems to the department manager or store manager.
- Inspect all merchandise containers coming in or leaving the store for merchandise.
- Maintain security at the receiving door and keep door closed and locked while away; for authorized entry only (vendor deliveries/pickups).
- Ensure vendors handle merchandise carefully to avoid damages and losses that could affect shrink.
- Control Retalix system, receiving paperwork.
- Maintain accurate entries and proper maintenance of Retalix computer equipment; have timely submission of invoices.
- Notify management of potential shrink problems, product availability problems, or potential security problems.
- Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
- Keep work area swept clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.
- Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving deliveries, and ability to operate and clean equipment and tools.
Secondary Job Functions:
- Resolve minor customer complaints and refer major complaints to management.
- Keep the receiving area and back room organized before and after deliveries, and properly dispose of trash.
- Maintain a professional, honest working relationship with all suppliers/vendors.
- Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene and business attitude.
- Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
- Successful completion of the onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire/entering the department.
- Other duties assigned by management.
