Manages the activities of the accounting department and prepares financial and management reports, including interim and annual financial statements, with supporting schedules, for the guidance of executive leadership. Responsible for financial plans and policies, oversees general accounting, reviews financials from property accounting, cost accounting and budgetary controls, and establishes internal accounting controls.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS- Minimum of five years financial management experience
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software; highly skilled in Excel
- Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work within given time frames
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Oversees and manages the daily Accounting operations, including supervising and encouraging the ongoing development of the accounting staff
- Manages and maintains the Company's chart of accounts and related record-keeping of all Company transactions and assets
- Reviews accounts payable invoices and manages the accounts payable system and workflows
- Ensures that the internal record keeping is maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and accounting policies, procedures, and controls are properly adhered to
- Manages and facilitates timely month end close, preparation of financial statements, profitability, management, regulatory reporting, and audit schedules
- Monitors accounting system for errors and research and resolve them
- Develops and implements accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient with a focus on continuous process improvement
- Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local corporate and other applicable taxes
- Manages the staff at the highest level of skill and performance necessary to meet the Company's goals and objectives. Responsible for personnel hires, transfer, demotions or terminations from the department
- Performs special projects, as assigned
OTHER FUNCTIONS- Performs Assistant Controller's job activities, as needed, during their absence
- Complies with company policies and procedures
