Job Duties, Critical Functions for an acute psychiatric hospital
Follows proper procedures for cleaning of areas as required.
Follows proper lifting procedure.
Follows proper procedure for removing / handling trash, soiled linen, medical waste, sharps containers, and
recyclable materials.
Wears proper personal protective equipment.
Uses wet floor / caution signs as needed. Exercises safety at all times.
Dilutes chemicals as directed. Uses only approved chemicals. Demonstrates an understanding of Safety Data
Sheets.
Maintains equipment and supplies (chemicals, paper products, trash liners and general supplies) at adequate levels necessary to perform assigned duties.
High dusts ceiling vent, walls, doors, doorframes, and all ledges to maintain a dust free environment.
Cleans light fixtures, windows, glass, mirrors, and all ledges.
Polishes furniture.
Cleans restroom, re-stock supplies, clean plumbing fixtures, sinks, showers, tubs, etc.
Cleans and makes beds in patient areas.
Stocks clean linen.
Changes window and cubicle curtains as directed.
Sweeps, mops, and vacuums entire floor and carpet surface, including edges, corners, underneath and behind
furniture, and doors. Demonstrates attention to detail cleaning.
Attends training / safety meetings regularly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
