Position Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Benefits to join our Human Resources team, reporting to the Head of Total Rewards & Operations. The Director of Benefits will be responsible for the administration and management of the company's employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and other related programs. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance the needs of the organization with the needs of our employees, ensuring that our benefits offerings remain competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with all legal requirements.
Responsibilities:- Plan Administration: Oversee the day-to-day administration of all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401(k) plans, and other company-sponsored benefit programs.
- Absence Management: Oversee third party leave manager, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Assist employees with leave requests and questions, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ACA. Prepare and file necessary reports and documents.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants. Conduct regular evaluations and negotiations to ensure the best value and service for the company and employees.
- Employee Communication: Develop and implement communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits options, including general upkeep and management of company intranet. Conduct benefits orientations, open enrollment meetings, and ongoing informational sessions.
- Benefits Strategy: Collaborate with the Head of Total Rewards & Operations to design and implement benefits strategies that align with the company's overall HR and business objectives. Analyze benefits data and trends to make recommendations for improvements.
- Benefits Reporting: Maintain accurate benefits records and prepare regular reports on benefits utilization, costs, and trends. Provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of benefits administration.
- Employee Escalations: Act as the primary point of contact for employees needing assistance with benefits issues that cannot be resolved by the first level of support.
Additionally:
- Participate in special projects on an ad hoc basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:- Supervise and mentor Benefits Analyst, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
Education/Experience Requirements: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations.
- Ability to manage high level of complexity with degree of independence, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.

- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Analytical skills to interpret benefits data and make strategic recommendations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration software. UKG and Plan Source experience a plus.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills a plus.

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required. At CIM, base pay is one part of the total compensation package. This role is eligible for bonus pay in addition to base salary. The anticipated base salary range for the position in Los Angeles is $135,000 - $185,000.
