We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Internal Audit Manager to join our team in our Phoenix office. This role is critical in ensuring our financial practices comply with policies, regulations, and industry standards.
Position Overview:
As an Internal Audit Manager, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits across various financial operations and processes. Your primary focus will be on auditing finance policies, procedures, and controls, including but not limited to purchasing card policies, check writing procedures, and bank reconciliations. You will also play a crucial role in monitoring compliance, identifying risks, and recommending improvements.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Finance Policies and Audits:
- Evaluate and audit adherence to finance policies, including purchasing card, expense reimbursement, and check writing policies.
- Oversee bank reconciliations, escheatment, balance sheet account reconciliations, and cash replenishment and accrued liability accounts.
- Manage the external audit of the firm’s medical benefit plans.
- Coordinate the bi-annual financial statement review by third-party accounting firm.
- Reconcile FSA and HSA accounts, fixed assets, workers' compensation, and payroll.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Conduct internal control and review control audits.
- Review finance and human resource systems access.
- Ensure accounting monthly checklist and manual journal entry compliance.
- Financial Data Integrity:
- Perform financial statement audits.
- Recommend to CFO adjusting Journal Entries to correct any needed items.
- Audit and manage the integrity of the firm’s related financial systems.
- Risk Management and Process Improvement:
- Identify risks of potential material misstatements in financial reports.
- Develop and implement internal audit plans and procedures, including risk assessments and controls.
- Identify areas for process improvement, recommend actions, and create or enhance process documentation (narratives, flowcharts).
- Operational Support:
- Offer suggestions for cost control to support short- and long-term operational strategies.
- Monitor capital expenditure budget-to-actual performance.
- Monitor changes in GAAP accounting or federal and state tax laws or regulations and ensure compliance.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in internal or external auditing or related financial management roles.
- Strong knowledge of auditing standards, internal control frameworks, and risk management.
- Proficiency in auditing financial systems, including data cubes.
- Experience with capital expenditure monitoring and income statement reconciliations.
- Ability to create and improve process documentation and identify gaps in controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple audits and projects effectively.
