Senior Accountant
Location: Westlake Village, CA
Salary: $90,000 – $120,000
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant for an emerging Life Sciences Tech company to oversee all financial transactions, including fixed payments, variable expenses, banking, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, exceptional attention to detail, and a focus on process optimization. This is an exciting opportunity to grow with our business, collaborate across functions, and establish scalable processes for the future. You will report directly to the VP of Finance and Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting transactions and business processes.
- Periodically report on actuals versus budget.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, providing executive-level reports.
- Ensure timely bank payments and maintain effective vendor and customer communications.
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Publish financial statements promptly and accurately.
- Oversee balance sheet management and profit/loss statements.
- Assess and report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.
- Manage the credit card program and related reporting.
- Ensure accurate accounting of inventory and leased assets.
- Support corporate purchasing processes effectively.
- Maintain master data in the ERP system for customer and supplier records.
- Optimize accounting systems and processes for efficiency.
- Collaborate with external partners for tax accounting and annual audits.
- Uphold confidentiality of financial data and oversee accounting backup records.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
- Provide administrative support for office management tasks as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience as an accountant.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- Experience with general ledger functions.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
- Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus.
- Desire to mentor and lead as the team expands.
- Note: 3+ days in the office required.
