POSITION SUMMARYEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. - Maintains and coordinates the implementation of Alberici's SafeRing program.
- Maintains and coordinates the implementation of Alberici's environmental program.
- Leads team where applicable and acts as a safety resource/ support for all people carrying out work in their local operations.
- Meets and establishes relationships with clients. Reviews their safety and environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance with Alberici's programs, as well as those of our clients.
- Responds and takes action to site specific risk management/health, safety or environmental related issues and concern as required.
- Initiates training programs to protect, improve and maintain the employees' and the project sites performance, as well as to facilitate sites to comply with legislative requirements.
- Conducts random and scheduled project site inspections, communicates findings to ensure workplace safety and prepares reports.
- Thoroughly investigates incidents/accidents which potentially may become a serious consequence to Alberici. With this you will determine the root cause and viable corrective/preventative action(s).
- Effectively manages subcontractors to ensure (at a minimum) compliance with Alberici's health, safety and environmental programs;
- Includes subcontractor mobilization, program review and project compliance.
- Manages and delivers project orientation training.
- Supports Project Management by participating in the incident/accident investigation process and the implementation of follow-up action plans.
- Ensures that all safety documentation/reports are accurate, complete and filed with the appropriate regulatory agency and/or appropriate insurance provider.
- Assists in the preparation of safety related documentation for bid proposals.
- Assists in the development and implementation of workplace plans, such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls etc.
- Assists in the researching and recommendations of safety equipment for personnel and construction safety needs.
- Promotes the SafeRing Program to increase awareness of health and safety initiatives by providing training.
- Prepares reports related to safety for management as required.
- Remains current on trends, practices, and legal issues.
- Conducts random safety audits and reviews results using statistical evaluation, audit reports, and feedback.
- Establishes relationships with clients' safety staff.
- Ensures the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the department/work unit.
Education, Experience, and SkillsPost secondary degree/diploma in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent plus two to four years related experience. Thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as other safety related laws and regulations are necessary to apply the rules within the organization.
