The Purchasing Supervisor/Manager is responsible for managing the day to day performance of buyers and their KPI's to deliver the supply chain strategy. The Purchasing Supervisor/Manager will focus on optimizing the supply chain planning processes to deliver the best service to our customers with the greatest amount of flexibility and minimal inventory. The candidate needs to have a mindset of continuous improvement. The Purchasing Supervisor/Manager also supervises the receiving department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
- Interact with manufacturing and production planning to ensure the necessary materials will be available when needed to support production.
- Deliver 95% or above on time delivery to customers while maintaining inventory targets.
- Manage purchase order processes using an MRP system as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Establish and challenge purchasing strategies to enable an agile supply chain at the lowest cost, best quality and best service. Working toward establishing a best in class supply chain.
- Work cross functionally to improve or establish processes impacting the supply chain.
- Work with suppliers to manage delivery gaps and expedite needed material to minimize supply interruptions.
- Explore, implement or support new technology or automation systems to improve day to day activities of the buyers.
- Build and improve employee performance.
- Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements.
- Sustain competitive material pricing by evaluating and negotiating material costs; discovering new sources; developing partnerships with strategic suppliers.
- Procure materials and supplies by establishing optimum inventory levels & reorder quantities together with manufacturing planning; driving down material lead time; contributing to and executing sourcing strategies
- Minimize material transportation costs by coordinating local supplier warehousing, selecting and maintaining transportation and consolidation vendors: managing inventory to avoid costly expedite fees.
- Manage supply base by driving periodic Review Meetings between ASSA ABLOY and it most strategic suppliers; contributing to Sourcing strategies, interfacing with supply base to manage thru contract and quality issues.
- Prepare reports and manage indicators by consolidating, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
- Contribute to team effort by using und supporting the Kaizen breakthrough methodology; using a participative management style; leading by example; taking full responsibility & accountability; being a good facilitator; and being an unconditional supporter of Continuous Improvement.

- Effectively manage a team by directly supervising employees in the purchasing department; performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a business or technical discipline with 2+ years of supervisory experience in a supply chain planning environment. Or any combination of education and experience demonstrating qualification for the role. An MBA is preferred but not required.
