As an Electrical Project Engineer, you'll work with designers and drafters to develop and review design drawings, including general arrangements, elevations and equipment connection details, grounding plan and details, conduit plan and details, control building layout and details, foundation plan and details, and developing material lists.
- Perform studies and calculations to properly design substations, including grounding calculations, lightning protection calculations, battery bank sizing calculations, conduit fill calculations, and substation sizing calculations, as well as perform AC & DC substation studies.
- Work in conjunction with other internal teams specializing in civil/structural, protection and controls, and automation.
- Provide input to Project Managers and the Business Unit Leader concerning potential process and design improvements related to engineering design and technology
- Follow systems of quality control and checking on all projects assigned
- Assist in preparing proposals for the business unit by estimating engineering hours as an engineering discipline lead
- Develop and maintain quality relationships with clients
- Conduct periodic site visits and walkthroughs, estimating, and attending scoping meetings.
- Maintain a collaborative spirit in working with within the Business Unit (BU) and with other BUs
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university
- Electrical modeling and simulation software experience with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower experience.
- Experience in refining, chemical, petro-chemical, power generation, or manufacturing facilities
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience
- Collaborative approach to problem solving
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build relationships with clients and staff members
- Developing industry contacts and knowledge of the industry
- Unquestioned business and personal integrity
- Registration as a professional engineer is preferred, but not required
