As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Game Development Automation & Stability Engineer.
This is a full-time, on-site position in our development studio located in Richardson, Texas (just outside of Dallas).
Responsibilities As a Game Development Automation and Stability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and stability of our game builds through the development and implementation of robust automation pipelines and testing frameworks. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including gameplay, quality assurance, and engineering, to streamline development processes and identify and resolve issues that impact the stability of our games.
- Automation Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain automation pipelines for continuous integration, testing, and deployment of game builds.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with all departments to identify automation needs and develop tooling to support testing efforts, including gameplay testing, UI testing, and performance testing.
- Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to define test plans, execute test cases, and analyze test results to identify bugs and areas for improvement.
- Gameplay Testing: Collaborate with the gameplay team to develop and execute tests for new features, gameplay mechanics, and content to ensure they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
- Stability Resolution: Investigate and diagnose issues affecting the stability of game builds, including crashes, performance issues, and other anomalies, and implement solutions or to address them promptly.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document automation processes, test cases, and results effectively and provide regular reports to stakeholders on the status of automation efforts and stability improvements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry best practices, tools, and technologies related to game development automation and stability and actively contribute to the improvement of development processes and workflows.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience in game development with a focus on automation, testing, and stability.
- 3+ years of professional C++ development
- Experience with automation frameworks/tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills- Experience with Xbox or PlayStation development tools and Visual Studio crash debugging.
- Experience with DevOps tooling (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
- Experience with cloud-based services and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Previous experience in a game development or entertainment industry role.
Salary Range Game Development Automation & Stability Engineer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,000 - $160,000 per year.
ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
