Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Communications, the incumbent provides strategic communications and marketing advice, focusing on digital solutions, for the Department to help achieve its fundraising and engagement objectives.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Proven ability to write and edit working to strict deadlines
• Proven ability to develop and implement innovative and engaging communications, event promotions and marketing plans
• Ability to work with senior management, donors, prominent alumni, faculty, staff, suppliers to the University
• Ability to work simultaneously on numerous and diverse projects
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a collaborative team environment
• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills are required, as are familiarity with the technical back-end knowledge of Web design and editing
• Experience with evaluating technologies and communications initiatives
• Experience designing and developing communication strategies, with an emphasis on electronic and social platforms, such as crowdfunding
• Frequent, mandatory overtime work required on weekends and weeknights (2-4 times/month); frequent, mandatory travel to alumni and corporate events (2-4 times/month);
• Exceptional level of professional flexibility, with experience in a fundraising environment
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• University honours degree in journalism, communications, marketing or English, and or equivalent work experience
• Five years of progressive related experience in fundraising communications, preferably in the area of journalism, communications, specialized marketing, marketing research or e-marketing
• Extensive writing and editing experience is essential
