Job Summary- Assumes responsibility and accountability for the provision of primary health care, medical management and education of perinatal and high risk OB inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with a physician.
- Physician Assistants practice under the rules and regulations for Physician Assistants in the state in which they work.
- Act as member of health care team assisting OB/Gyn health care providers in recognizing, understanding and caring for mental health issues that impact pregnancy and the postpartum period.
- Determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving behavioral health services within the clinic environment, assesses additional service needs and provides case management for external referrals when indicated.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in making recommendations for clients who abuse, misuse, or divert controlled substances.
Education and/or Experience- Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS - Licensure as a Physician Assistant and ability to practice in the state of South Dakota required.
- Federal and State DEA certification is required for South Dakota.
- National Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.
Work Schedule- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; 80 hours every 2 weeks
