In the role of Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing Paxton’s selection of oddities and treasures. We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic team member who has constructive, creative ideas about how Paxton Gate can further enhance its position as the premiere location for our category.

General Responsibilities:
• Generate weekly purchase orders as needed and submit to vendors
• Monitoring shrinkage, waste, turnover, etc. through inventory and cycle counts
• Conduct monthly detailed sales reports and analysis
• Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Paxton Gate aesthetic
• Select new products from existing vendors and locate new vendors and buying opportunities
• Obtain and process all paperwork (invoices) regarding product orders
• Ensure that all products are received in accordance with our quality requirements, expectations and are ethically sourced
• Work with Staff to solve issues with pricing, original cost change, etc. on orders
• Work with Fulfillment Coordinator and Office Manager to resolve accounting discrepancies
• Maintain and share detailed product knowledge with sales staff and web team
• Ensure that all items in the store are represented in the system with accurate inventory quantities
• Be available to cover shifts as needed on an emergency basis and during the “all hands-on deck” period of the holidays
Skills/ Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years buyer experience and/or 5+ years retail experience
• Superior time management, prioritization, and workflow
• Hands on experience with inventory tracking/ordering software. Shopify/Stocky experience a plus!
• Exceptional computer literacy in PC systems using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), Slack, and Google Sheets. You will be tested prior to interviewing.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends and holidays
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
