About us:The Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education and Practice (ISTEP) is the newest department in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering in the University of Toronto. U of T Engineering created ISTEP to drive change in how we prepare future engineering leaders. Our work lies at the intersection of engineering education, professional competencies and engineering practice, encompassing what and how we teach, who our students become, and what our students will do.
The first of its kind in Canada, ISTEP brings together existing and innovative initiatives, academic programming, scholarship and people from across the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering to create a vibrant ecosystem for instruction innovation. There are five programs within the department: Engineering Business Minor; Engineering Communication Program (ECP); Certificate in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Small Business; Collaborative Specialization in Engineering Education (EngEd); and Troost Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering (Troost ILead).

Under the general direction of the Managing Director, Troost ILead, the incumbent will be responsible for defining and implementing a business development strategy to promote our educational programming for professionals and managing associated relationships. They will develop and implement strategic marketing plans to create awareness of our educational programming and support recruitment targets. Additionally, the incumbent will be a primary resource for external lead and prospect management. The Program Coordinator, Business Development & External Partnerships will also serve as the front-line resource for students and learners participating in our professional programming.
Your responsibilities will include: - Conducting detailed market data analysis to inform programs and business development opportunities
- Developing and implementing marketing plans to support business development and revenue-generating strategies and/or activities
- Developing implementation plans that support outreach initiatives to external organizations
- Building, strengthening, and sustaining relationships with external contacts and partners of strategic importance
- Promoting programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts
- Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
- Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
- Serving as a resource for the administration of educational programming for professionals, and general external relations related matters.
Essential Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree (in science, engineering, business and/or entrepreneurship preferred) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of experience conducting business development, managing external relations, and/or strategic marketing.
- Experience developing, planning, marketing, and implementing training programs, working closely with internal and external contacts as needed.
- Analytical mindset with experience in data analysis, market research, and performancemeasurement and demonstrated ability to solve problems in a creative and effective manner; ability to present analysis and outcomes to senior leadership in a clear and concise format.
- Knowledge of MS Office, custom databases, Client Relations Management (CRM) systems and web-based applications, social media platforms, etc.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with a strong degree of initiative while also being an effective team player.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and judgment, including the ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships with diverse internal and externalcontacts.
Assets (Nonessential): - Knowledge of career upskilling, training program planning, design, development, and evaluation principles.
- Extensive knowledge of labour market conditions, emerging professional career trends in engineering and similar technical professions.
- Have a broad range of high-level contacts with external organizations and employers.
- Experience leading the planning, implementation (including expansions andadjustments), and operations of new revenue generating educational programs
