Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Fleet & Facilities Manager, the Fleet & Facilities Supervisor supervises and provides oversight and assistance to the Mechanics and Maintenance Service Worker team members in keeping all Cascades East Transit (CET) vehicles and facilities running at their optimal level. Preference: Additional specialized training in facility maintenance management, or a closely related field.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology plus three (3) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the required job duties. At least 1 year of management/supervisory experience required.
- Essential Functions: A person employed in this position must possess the capability to perform the following duties to be considered for this position. The duties are essential functions requiring the critical skills and expertise needed to meet job objectives.
- Supervision and General Oversight:
o Supervise staff including scheduling, assignment, and review of work
o Assist Fleet & Facilities Manager in evaluation of staff performance, providing coaching and guidance to team, and participating in selection of new personnel
o Build relationships with vendors, contract services, and internal partners to ensure efficient communication on aspects of fleet and facilities
o Maintain shop area to ensure safety and cleanliness
o Maintain written safety procedures and provide appropriate safety orientation and ongoing safety training for employees in accordance with OR-OSHA rules
o Conduct monthly team safety meetings to include topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE) use and shop safety issues
o Purchase equipment, parts, and supplies used for vehicle, mechanical system and facility maintenance
o May assist Fleet & Facilities Manager in preparing cost estimates, budget proposals, and coordinating with contractors
o Develop and maintain effective and harmonious and reasonable work relationships with others
o Maintain regular and predictable work attendance in accordance with COIC policies.
o Perform other related duties as assigned
- Fleet Maintenance & Oversight:
o Plan, schedule, and prioritize breakdown repairs and preventive maintenance according to manufactures specifications and CET schedules for all vehicles and mechanical equipment
o Provide emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate
o Must have valid Oregon CDL class B with air brakes restriction lifted in order to transport vehicles as needed. Completion of this requirement within introductory period will be considered
o Repairing diesel and gasoline engines, electrical, fuel, air, hydraulic, transmission, heating and air conditioning systems, ignition, exhaust, axle assemblies, brakes and related systems. Inspect and repair wheelchair lifts. Check fluid levels and add or change fluids as necessary; lubricate the vehicle/equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and replace tires
o Diagnose and repair electronic systems including, video equipment, electronic fare system, destination signs, automatic voice announcement system, and automatic passenger counter systems
o Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
o Weld, machine and fabricates parts. Test, service and repair vehicles and mechanical equipment. Conduct various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacement
o Oversight of the planning and scheduling of vehicle cleaning to include interior and exterior, emptying trash and reporting all items needing repair
o Maintain records of vehicle repairs including parts and labor
o Maintain inventory of parts purchased; prepare reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment using computerized fleet maintenance software
o Manage manufacturer recalls and warranty requirements
- Facilities and Landscaping Oversight:
o Oversight of facility maintenance duties such as bus stop and shelter cleaning, minor repairs or installation, removing trash, human and pet waste, and graffiti
o Oversight of bus stop signs including installation and repair of damaged signage
o Oversight of the planning and scheduling of snow removal at Transportation facilities and bus stops
o Oversight and coordination of facility landscape contractor
o Maintain records of facility inspections and repairs
