

The Buyer will assist in ordering, tracking, receiving, filing, and invoice reconciling. Perform planning and acquisition functions of equipment, supplies & materials to support manufacturing and direct customer order requirements. The Buyer needs to be fully able to maintain shipment driven schedules, be able to work without supervision and report daily to the management team. Uphold the department's goal of negotiating the best available cost, which is also consistent with quality and schedule requirements. This position will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and process purchasing requests: purchase requisitions and purchase orders for equipment, bulk and packaged materials, packaging components, production supplies, office supplies, other related goods, and services.
- Acts as a liaison between vendors & departments for order status, procurement procedures, and problem resolution.
- Assist in bid openings for competitive solicitations, requesting quotes, bids, and proposals.
- Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Validate, reconcile, and process receiving reports, vendor invoices, and other payment documents.
- Manage time sensitive projects.
- Continually negotiate pricing and terms with current and new suppliers.
- Research new components and new supply chains.
- Develop supplier relationships both domestic and international.
- Plan and schedule delivery of raw materials to support manufacturing schedule.
- Identify excess and obsolete raw materials and dispose of such materials.
- Maintain inventory levels to reduce costs.
- Monitor supplier performance.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Chemical, packaging & equipment purchasing experience preferred but not required.
