The Senior Systems Engineer manages all technical aspects of the Tellabs Enterprise sales process including technical presentations, lab demos, and system configurations. This position covers North America with a preferred primary location in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.
The primary goal of the Senior Systems Engineer is technical sales support to Tellabs Sales Executives.
- Deliver Tellabs Optical LAN technical presentations to channel partners and customers
- Deliver live product demonstrations to customers and channel partners using active Tellabs Optical LAN systems
- Mentors and guides junior engineers
- Resolves escalated issues and complex problems
- May be responsible for system architecture and integration plans, including design and implementation plans of complex systems and infrastructure
- Experience with Fiber based LAN solutions (Optical LAN)
- Working with Tellabs Channel Sales Executive, develop system configurations that meet client technical and economic needs
- Enable channel partners through training on the business value and ROI of Tellabs products and services
- With the Tellabs sales team, achieve quarterly and annual revenue and bookings targets
- Represent Tellabs at select trade shows, customer events and partner events
- Update technical sales information for each opportunity in NetSuite.
- Provide quoting for partners and customers as required.
- Provide regular updates to Tellabs management on technical pipeline activity
- Must ultimately reside in the assigned territory, work remotely from home and travel 50-75%.
Required Education- Bachelor's Degree
- Professional sales development training desired.
Required Experience- Minimum 6-10 years in IP Networking or Systems Engineering roles in Enterprise or Federal Government IT market segments.
- Must have deep IP networking technical knowledge with an understanding of routing, switching and network design.
- Understanding of VLANs, RADIUS, SIP, IP Security, Multicast and Spanning Tree.
- Understanding of Wi-Fi technologies and design.
- Understanding of Layer 1 network design.
- Must have a solid understanding of enterprise network design and current design concepts.
- Experience assembling RFI/RFP Responses
- Ability to create TCO/Business Case Models comparing technologies.
- Basic understanding of Software Defined Networking.
- Strong PC skills and ability to set up and configure Microsoft Windows based servers.
- Strong communication and presentation skills including ability to communicate with Executive/C-Suite levels internally and externally
- Ability to create hardware, software, and services configurations based on customer and partner business needs.
- Understanding of the channel sales model including discounting, margins, distribution, direct sales, partners and sales agents.
- Confident self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, as a technical lead in a support role to sales.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships at all organization levels within a customer, reseller or system integrator organization.
- Ability to create/modify PowerPoint presentations, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
- Strong problem solving and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate complex networking topics into understandable business solutions.
Preferred Skills- Sales Engineering experience in Commercial or Federal Government markets

- Experience scoping and quoting professional services
- US Federal Government IP networking experience
- Ability to hold government clearances.
- BICSI RCDD certification.
- Industry certifications - CCNP/CCIE, ACDX, JNCIA, etc.
