Job Details:Job Description:As an Instrumentation Lab Technician, you will be responsible for device/system power instrumentation on Intel and competitor notebook systems. Your work will help enable PnP engineers to measure/analyze power and performance on Intel and competitor products.
This role is for Santa Clara, CA on-site everyday (no remote/no hybrid option).
Core responsibilities to include following:
- Laptop SoC/system power instrumentation
- Create a National Instruments DAQ (NIDAQ) config file, instrument notebook systems to enable power measurements
- Perform PCB re-works on pre-production boards
- Measure and debug performance workloads and benchmarks, such as Procyon, SPEC CPU 2017, WebXPRT, Geekbench, Cinebench
- Measure and debug power workloads and benchmarks, such as idle, video playback, MobileMark 25
- Call out any power and performance gaps vs expectations
- Align with other internal engineering technicians/teams and to ensure correct setup
- Coordinate with PnP Engineers on the team to understand the upcoming needs
- Coordinate with PnP Engineers to order all necessary equipment
- Maintain lab inventory of ordered items and in-house equipment
Qualifications:You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with advanced level soldering skills. Ability to perform PCB soldering/re-works on SMT resistors and capacitors (sizes 0402/0201)
- 1+ years of experience in one or more of the following: RMA analysis, failure analysis, PCB rework, board debug, board component replacement, reverse engineering or assembly and repair of faulty components
- 1+ years of experience identifying and debugging board level components
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical engineering/Electronics associates degree
- Motivated self-learner/self-starter and ability to quickly adapt to changes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and work with engineers to solve problems
- Knowledge of power delivery
- Knowledge of CPU micro-architecture (knowledge of x86 CPU micro-architecture)
- Ability to setup Windows OS systems from base image
- Knowledge of modern power delivery and thermal management techniques in high-performance and low power SOC designs
- Familiarity with ITP/JTAG scripts, board bring up, power measurements with DAQ
- Prior experience on setup for National Instruments DAQ or similar power capture equipment
- Familiarity of standard performance benchmarks and ability to analyze performance
- Familiarity with industry benchmarks (i.e. Procyon, SPEC, Speedometer, Cinebench, Geekbench, MobileMark, 3DMark, etc.)
- Prior experience with Windows products or other consumer electronics in a post-silicon engineering environment
- Laptop device/system platform and SoC component level power instrumentation
- Understand the basic concepts of power delivery and power measurements
- Proficiency and ability to organize data is a must

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:
$80,420.00-$113,530.00 (Hourly Role)
