About the Position
As a Finance Analyst for the Department of Health Services, you will play a crucial role in conducting detailed analytical studies and reports related to fiscal operations and programs. Your responsibilities will include monitoring program budgets and cost reports and implementing systems and procedures to support our health initiatives. Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing fiscal procedures related to billing and claiming
- Reviewing and analyzing financial data; performing system/application analysis, recommending operational changes based on findings, and creating rate analysis reports
- Supporting fiscal operations, budgeting, and contract management within the division
- Assisting the Claiming team in meeting billing deadlines to maintain cash flow
- Providing monthly analysis and trending of the claiming process for fiscal updates within the budget
- Ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations and keeping the Department updated on changes for accurate reporting of claimed services
- Supervising fiscal staff, including Accounting Technicians and Senior Account Clerks
- Developing, updating, and overseeing the maintenance of databases and reports in Microsoft Excel
As the ideal candidate to join the team, you will have advanced knowledge of developing financial reports and possess many of the following skills:
- Familiarity with medical billing and claiming, as well as understanding Medi-Cal payment reform
- Prior experience in revenue management or accounting preferred
- Knowledge of electronic healthcare records and accounting software
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team; excellent organizational and multitasking skills are essential
- Capability to respond promptly to email requests and manage shifting priorities efficiently
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Advanced Excel skills are highly desirable
This position will follow a Monday-to-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with one mandatory Saturday in July to support fiscal year-end closing.
