Position; Line Cook
Wage 18 per hour + Tip starts 2.5 per hour
Common Responsibilities:
Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of food items according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards. This can include chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces.
Cooking: Cook and plate dishes in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff. This could involve operating grills, ovens, stovetops, and fryers.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure that the kitchen, including all appliances and cookware, are clean and sanitized. This involves cleaning up spills, washing dishes, and ensuring food stations are tidy.
Stock Management: Help manage kitchen inventory by restocking supplies, rotating food stocks, and ensuring that food is used efficiently to minimize waste.
Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health codes and regulations related to food safety and hygiene. This includes proper handling of allergens and maintaining accurate food temperature logs.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that food is prepared quickly and presented to the customer as requested.
Adaptability: Adjust to changes in menu or kitchen processes, respond to feedback from kitchen staff and diners, and handle multiple food orders efficiently under pressure.
Qualifications:
Experience: Depending on the role, previous experience in a kitchen setting may be required. For entry-level positions like dishwashers, no prior experience might be needed.
Skills: Good cooking skills, understanding of basic cooking techniques, ability to follow recipes, and strong organizational skills are typically needed.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy pots or food supplies, and work in a hot environment.
Certifications: Food safety certification, such as a ServSafe certificate, may be required or preferred.
Personal Traits: Good communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team, and resilience under pressure.
