The Account Engineer will assess an insurance client's equipment breakdown and operational risk as well as other inherent hazards. These assessments will support Underwriters, Brokers, Insureds and Claims Adjustors with quantifiable risk related information and produce material loss prevention recommendations.
Experienced professionals from disciplines such as manufacturing, field engineering, maintenance or commissioning may be a good fit for the role.

How you will create impact:- Conduct equipment breakdown assessments of large complex risks to identify hazards/exposures that allow your underwriting partners to make risk selection, rating and pricing decisions.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical articles and bulletins to inform underwriting decisions including risk improvement recommendations to enhance our client's risk mitigation practice.
- Prepare detailed estimates of potential losses to repair or replace mechanical, electrical and operating systems based on market and industrial intelligence, internal data and engineering expertise and judgement.
- Perform annual reviews of large complex risks/accounts and present to underwriting leadership.

To join our team:- Provincial Professional Engineering license or in process of obtaining the same
- A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mining, Electrical or related field) or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of industry experience, some of which may include equipment breakdown insurance.
- Strong communication skills, to establish relationships and convey opinions to both internal and external stakeholders a must
- Experience with and/or assessing complex risks in power generation, mining, oil and gas industries an asset.
- CIP, CRM designations and/or NBBI IS commission would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in English is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups, teams. Drafting complex English documents and preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
What you need to know:- Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
- A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
- You are required to have a valid driver's license.
- Role requires lifting, physical exertion at a moderate level.
- You will travel occasionally. Our flexible remote work model can accommodate working virtually from anywhere within Canada with the requirement to be present in any of our offices twice a month.

Expected Salary Range: $99,188.00 - $165,313.00
*The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
