About the Team The Procurement Team is a growing, supportive and friendly team. As Procurement Specialist you will be a member of the Procurement Team, reporting directly to a Category Manager.
About the Role As a member of the Procurement Team reporting directly to the Category Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for conducting analysis and market research, development of commodity strategies, coordinating demand requirements, determining contracting strategy and then leading the sourcing of goods and/or services across nominated commodities on behalf of the business. The Senior Procurement Specialists may also support ad-hoc business needs for rapid low volume procurement demands.
As Senior Procurement Specialist, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Strategic Sourcing: develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned to business priorities for complex goods and services. The management of commodity sourcing activities including:
- Identifying potential suppliers (Market analysis and research);
- Demand requirement forecasting and analysis;
- Commodity sourcing and contracting strategy;
- Supplier Relationship management: performance reporting, reviews and materials management;
- Actively drive cost reductions and increase value for money while championing opportunities for improvement through sustainable end-to-end procurement solution;
- Contract Negotiation, award and performance management;
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the timely sourcing of goods and services assigned, ensuring business continuity and compliance;
- Expediting: Actively monitor supplier performance, identify potential delays, and take proactive steps to expedite deliveries. This may involve communicating with suppliers, coordinating with stakeholders and implementing contingency plans;
- Stakeholder management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, understanding their needs, ensuring an effective and efficient procurement support service;
- Reporting: Providing regular updates to key stakeholders on procurement progress, expediting efforts, and any potential issues;
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior procurement professionals, fostering their professional development and knowledge sharing;
- Contribute to the development, implementation and continued improvement of procurement related working instructions and guidelines;
- Effectively represent RDA and liaise with industry bodies and government industry representatives to ensure alignment with Rheinmetall global commodity teams; and
- Engagement with internal stakeholders across the business to develop and maintain effective, efficient and cooperative working relationships.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Proven experience & results in managing the entire procurement life cycle activities preferably within a multinational company;
- The ability to demonstrate experience across all Procurement fundamentals - sourcing, tendering, contracts, supplier management, market research analysis, expediting, reporting and negotiations;
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical or fabrication components and associated procurements activities;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
- Drive continuous improvement of cost and supply base performance;
- High level ability to collate and write requirements documents;
- Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop solutions, and implement them efficiently;
- Proficiency in procurement software such as ERP systems - SAP preferable;
- An ability to travel interstate if and when required; and
- Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
