OVERVIEW:The Sr. Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager supports the Non-Refining Operations in the United States and reports into the Corporate Director of Environmental, Health & Safety. The referenced operations represent manufacturing and packaging & distribution operations but are unique in facility size, number of associates, and operating requirements. The Sr. Regional Environmental, Health & Safety Manager is primarily responsible for the consistent implementation, management and monitoring of all corporate environmental, health, safety, and security programs across six locations which could include to lead the implementation and evaluation of critical EHS processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance as well as injury and non-compliance reduction within the region with the on-site EHS Managers. This role requires exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to lead and manage groups or individuals in relation to compliance with Environmental Health & Safety policies and practices.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES - Implements, manages and monitors all corporate environmental, health, safety, and security programs across all assigned locations.
- Works with the management teams and associates to instill a genuine culture of awareness and responsibility across the facilities.
- Ensure compliance with national, regional and local regulations pertaining to environmental, health, and safety.
- Conducts site visits to support the preparation and implementation of site-specific procedures/requirements/programs that will ensure compliance with ASR's Corporate Programs as well as federal/state/local regulations.
- Develops a team of EHS Leads (one per location) to assist in the day-to-day needs of the facility's EHS program if no established EHS Manager at a location.
- Works closely with EHS Managers at sites with an established position to ensure continued guidance, support and coaching to ensure programs, projects and tasks align with corporate and sight objectives (Not sure how written for Nick's role for refineries).
- Provides support to management teams, associates and plant committees in order to ensure a safe work environment at each location.
- Provides monthly status reports regarding the initiatives of each plant's EHS program.
- Establishes and ensures that Site Committees are adhering to corporate standards, actively communicating to all plant personnel regarding EHS related issues, and are developing the appropriate corrective action plans, or guides site EHS Manager to complete.
- Identifies and incorporates best practices into company standards, maintaining continuous improvement of company EHS policies
- Provides relevant content and subject matter expertise to support:
- Required EHS-related training at each of the locations
- The development of thorough and complete incident investigations
- The prevention of incidents through site visits that includes behavioral auditing, associate communication and statistical analysis
- Prepares weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required.
- Defines regional and plant EHS goals to align with corporate business objectives.
- Stays abreast of regulatory developments and advises regional, plant, and operational management.
- Execute or oversee routine inspections, audits, and drills.
- Works closely with the Human Resources Department, and, where appropriate, the Third Party Administrators (TPA), to review and monitor workers compensation claims costs and develop plans to minimize active claims.
- Takes a leadership role in dealing with complex or sensitive situations and works with managers and directors to ensure preventive measures are globally applicable.
- Keeps the Sr. Corporate Director of EHS informed of issues within assigned area of responsibility at all times; escalates situations as needed to reach desired resolutions.
- Liase with or supports site EHS with regulatory personnel during agency audits, inspections and/or investigations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with a concentration in Safety, Risk Management or a related Technical Field
- At least 5 years of work experience managing safety, health, and environmental functions in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations pertaining to safety, health and environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment
- CSP certification is preferred
- Experience working in the food, pharmaceutical, CPG, or similar industry is highly preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY - There will not be formal direct reports, however the Regional EHS Manager will have 4-6 indirect reports and will be expected to provide guidance, support, and also provide feedback to direct reports and their manager(s) with regard to performance
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to travel up to 65% of the time; travel frequency will be based on the needs of the business
LOCATION OF ROLESALARY PAY RANGE: $85,500-$158,500 plus bonus - The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
