Function:
Manage recreational, educational, cultural, wellness programs, and activities for seniors and the community. Oversee management facility rentals and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility and grounds. Maintain records on events and participants.
Hours:
40 hours per week (typically during operating hours, 8 AM to 5 PM, M-F)
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required.
Salary:
$66,000 – $69,000/year
(The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including: hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and the internal equity of our current team members.)
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and coordinate activities and workshops to be held at Yu-Ai Kai.
• Responsible for publicity, sign-ups, administration, direction and evaluation of activities and workshops. Physical
set up and take down of classes and events.
• Coordinate volunteer efforts and work with management on volunteer recognition activities.
• Provide regular status reports on activities, participants, and facility use.
• Establish, maintain and distribute a monthly calendar of activities.
• Manage facilities usage at Yu-Ai Kai and Akiyama Wellness Center and all aspects of facility rental reservations.
• Manage the Akiyama Wellness Center Coordinator and the facility attendants.
• Ensure that facility, facility equipment, field and surrounding areas are kept clean and safe.
• Manage the content creation and delivery of the Yu-Ai Kai newsletter and website.
• Assist and support fundraising efforts and events as needed.
• Attend staff and other relevant committee meetings.
• Any other duties deemed necessary by the Executive Director for the smooth operation of the agency
Required Qualifications:
• Must be able to meet the event set up demands of the position:
- able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
- able to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, stoop and reach overhead repetitively.
- able to move tables, chairs, etc. (for set up and take down of events).
- able to periodically lift/carry program supplies, equipment.
• Must be able to:
- read, write, and speak English.
- provide written and oral instructions in English.
• Valid California Driver’s license and good driving record.
• Willing to submit for fingerprint screening from DOJ and FBI criminal record clearance.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or willing/able to become certified.
• Fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or willing to become fully vaccinated and boosted when eligible.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, database programs, internet navigation, graphic design platforms (Canva), and
enterprise software platforms (Salesforce).
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills; strong decision-making skills; strong oral and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.
Bilingual in Japanese, Spanish or another language is a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Recreation, Hospitality and Event Management, Kinesiology, or Health Sciences, or 5 years’ relevant experience in the recreation or hospitality and event management industries.
Proven experience working with clients from different cultural, social, and professional backgrounds.
Proven experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers for daily operations or periodic events.
Proven experience working cross functionally within an organization.
Proven experience creating documents, reports, flyers, etc.
Experience working with seniors a plus.
