Are you passionate about youth ministry and helping young people grow in faith? West Side Presbyterian Church is looking for a dynamic and relational Interim Director of Youth Engagement to lead and nurture the spiritual development of middle and high school students.
This part-time position (approximately 15 hours/week) offers an exciting opportunity to foster faith formation, connection, and service in alignment with the church’s mission to be a welcoming community rooted in Christ, where all are invited to connect, grow, and serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Middle School Youth Group (6th-8th Grade): Lead bi-weekly Sunday evening gatherings (Sept-June) and plan/lead a weekend retreat at Camp Johnsonburg (Dec 6-8).
- High School Youth Group (9th-12th Grade): Facilitate weekly Sunday evening gatherings (Sept-June) and plan/lead a weekend retreat at Camp Johnsonburg (Nov 22-24).
- Summer Service Project: Organize and lead a week-long service trip for high school students, providing hands-on mission work and spiritual growth.
- Relational Ministry & Volunteer Coordination: Build relationships with youth, parents, and volunteers; coordinate and support adult volunteers; collaborate with Pastor Liz Junod to create engagement opportunities for youth with the broader church and local community.
- Ministry Safe Compliance: Ensure youth ministry adheres to the Ministry Safe program and all safety standards are met.
- Program Development & Administration: Develop innovative programs, manage communications with youth/families, oversee scheduling, and manage barn responsibilities.
- Budget Management & Shelby System Proficiency: Manage the youth ministry budget and become proficient in the church’s Shelby management system to support ministry operations.
Qualifications:
- A passion for youth ministry and spiritual development.
- Strong leadership and relational skills with the ability to connect across differences.
- Missional mindset, aligned with the church’s values of living contemplatively, loving inclusively, sharing generously, and acting justly.
- Experience in youth ministry, education, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience managing a budget is a plus.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn the Shelby management system is required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a collaborative spirit.
- Adherence to the Ministry Safe program and commitment to safety in youth ministry.
Hours:
Part-time, approximately 15 hours per week.
The role offers flexibility during summer and holiday seasons, apart from mandatory retreat and mission trip leadership.
