The Telephony and Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s telephony and network infrastructure. This role ensures optimal performance, security, and availability of network and telecommunication systems. The Telephony and Network Engineer will collaborate with various departments to support and enhance network and telephony capabilities to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and manage robust network infrastructure to support data, voice, and video communications.
- Telephony Systems Management: Administer and maintain telephony systems, including VoIP, PBX, and call center solutions.
- Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
- Security Management: Implement and manage network security protocols to protect data and telecommunication systems from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network and telephony issues promptly to minimize downtime and service interruptions.
- Upgrades and Maintenance: Plan and execute regular upgrades and maintenance tasks to keep network and telephony systems up-to-date.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, telephony systems, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration and functionality of network and telephony systems.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network and telephony services, hardware, and software procurement.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users and IT staff on telephony and network-related issues.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Required Experience:
- Five or more years of experience in network engineering and telephony system management.
- Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and telephony equipment.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving network and telephony issues.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Understanding of Teams Voice Telephony and its components.
- Hands On Networking routing, switches, firewall and SDWAN technologies
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and telecommunication systems.
- Proficiency in managing VoIP, PBX, and call center solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, etc.) preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously whilst also being a team player.
- Need to possess a strong desire for continuous improvement.
- Proactive, well organized with strong project management skills and the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with network security protocols and best practices.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
- Prior experience in a similar role within a mid to large-sized organization.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment and may require occasional on-call work and travel to support remote sites.
